XD Contractors
An independent technical and trust-signal review of a live multi-service contractor website.
This is an independent review I performed on a live public website to demonstrate real analysis — I’m not affiliated with this business, and this isn’t paid client work.
Metadata on this site is reasonably set up, but the homepage has several visible content and trust issues that would concern a visitor before they even think about SEO.
| Element / Location | Current state | Issue |
|---|---|---|
| Homepage slider | Showing literal placeholder images (file named “dummy.png” from the slider plugin) instead of real photos | Placeholder imagery weakens trust immediately |
| Footer trust badges | Logos are hotlinked from an unrelated third-party domain rather than hosted on the business’s own site | External dependency and trust risk |
| Sitemap link | Points to a single static page rather than a real, crawlable XML sitemap | Weak technical foundation for crawl discovery |
Placeholder images on the homepage hero undermine trust immediately, regardless of how good the rest of the site is. Hotlinked trust badges from an unrelated domain are also a risk — if that external site goes down or changes, the badge disappears or could even be replaced by something else entirely, outside the business’s control.
- Replace the slider’s placeholder images with real photos of completed work or the team.
- Re-host the trust badge logos on the business’s own site instead of linking to an external domain.
- Set up a proper auto-generated XML sitemap and submit it in Google Search Console.
